Joan has been studying Reiki since 2012. Her path and Reiki first aligned during her chemotherapy treatment for Breast Cancer in 2011. The Reiki sessions Joan received during chemotherapy provided her with a deep sense of balance and positive focus, and have since become an essential part of her wellness and survivorship. Joan received her Reiki training at The Reiki School and Clinic in Philadelphia and is a Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Master/Teacher. In addition to practicing professionally at The Reiki School and Clinic, Joan has also volunteered for several years at Penn’s Abramson Cancer Center and The Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania. There she provided Reiki sessions to cancer patients, caregivers, and staff. Joan’s personal experience and the desire of patients to have Reiki available anytime, prompted the development of this course. Joan’s career path began in pharmaceutical research/safety assessment and followed a course through several medical specialties. Joan’s Reiki practice and commitment to serving others embodies joy, compassion, and gratitude.
Rachel was born and raised in New Jersey. She attended Drew University and The Art Institute of Philadelphia. In November 2012, her life was completely turned upside down when she started having chronic pain and was diagnosed with endometriosis. She found Reiki while searching for alternative methods to manage her symptoms and instantly knew that it was going to be a huge part of her life. Reiki has given her the space to create a positive relationship with her disease and manage symptoms on a daily basis. She began her training at The Reiki School + Clinic in 2014 and is a Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Master. She recently completed a teacher training program and she is so excited to be able to pass this practice on to others. She is passionate about helping other individuals dealing with similar issues and is so excited to be embarking on this Reiki For Self-Care journey with her teacher Joan. Living with a chronic illness has put her on a completely new path, and she is so grateful to have Reiki in her life.
